Bright sunshine in da house ;-)

Villa Sonnenschein - Schmidt Theater, Hamburg 20th, 26th & 27th January, 2012

So three more shows of one of my all time favourites and what a difference one other casting can make for me at two of these shows.

The 20th January saw the premiere of the two newbies Anja Majeski and Marco Knorz and I was only to go to two but as Marco was to do the one on the 26th too and I won tickets taking a "Villa Sonnenschein" virgin who wanted to see Marco there were three shows. Unfortunately two hours before the Thursday show we learnt Marco had swapped with Benjamin Zobrys, so we missed him on that day.
But I had wondered already as there was a "Cabaret" show in Kiel Marco is cast of, seems like someone got his dates wrong or something like that. Oh well, at least there were two shows with the incredible one.

The first time I saw Marco was at the Joop van den Ende Academy graduation show in April 2011 and he was THE outstanding performer for me back then, my friend I went with and I were utterly impressed by him, so learning he was the new Felix I was not disappointed and when he finally appeared onstage on the 20th it took me only a few seconds into the show the impression back then was true.

His whole performance just felt right from the first minute of the show till the last giving a controlled, balanced and most touching portrayal of Felix (just a tiny bit of tensity which he lost when I saw him a week later).
It was a delight to watch how detailed he was and how amazingly his character's emotional states got across alone by his voice (since you hardly got to his actual face playing the puppet so well, just as I expect it).
His solo number "Es Tut So Weh" (my usual favourite moment of Felix) was sung so beautifully and ardently and just the rollercoaster I want to feel and go through and it was one with plenty of loops at such a pace. Goose bumps. Purest pleasure. Increased dopamine level. Fullstop.

Also the other numbers, most notably his duet with Dörthe Thiel aka Melanie just showed what a highly versatile vocalist he is.
I also love the individual touches he put to the part which added the wanted bouncy OTT-ness of a puppet but also giving it so much genuineness and unsophistication. Jan Radermacher will always be my favourite "zivi" but this guy has managed with just one show to become my favourite "bufdi".

Anja Majeski as Mechthild was also wonderful, not as evil at her premiere as the other two ladies but very blunt, outspoken and sharp with her songs sung of highest standards. A real treat definitely.
And with more evilness added at my second show with her on the 26th it was just a blast to watch her especially her scenes with the wonderful as always Kai Bronisch as the doctor.

Overall some more fantastic shows seeing my faves at least once (not going into detail as nothing new to add from first shows), just could have done without the acknowledgement before the show on the 20th - yeah, we are mad seeing the show that often. But thanks for the free drinks Schmidt Theater! :-) The next show is just around the corner.
